Housing Development Oude Gantoise phase 2
Alides + ION | Gent
The second phase of Ecowijk Gantoise, developed for ALIDES+ION, completes the urban ensemble and realises the central park as the green backbone of the neighbourhood. The open space, both public and private, is designed by aAD landschapsarchitecten as the carrier of a regenerative vision where ecology, water, and social interaction converge. The neighbourhood is entirely car-free, with a centralised parking facility beneath the Buhne West, which also houses an energy field and ESCO installation supplying the entire site with sustainable heating and cooling. The programme comprises 60% market-rate housing, 20% budget-friendly units for Modest, and 20% social housing developed through the CBO procedure. Areal Architecten designs an interwoven urban fabric in which buhnehoven, wadi systems, and open pathways structure collective life. Thus, Gantoise emerges as a regenerative urban fragment where architecture, landscape, and community reinforce one another within a sustainable vision for the future.
